Planet Mercury named after God of communication and travel, spends more time in retrograde motion than any other planet in the solar system. It moves backward in the sky roughly three times a year for a period of three to four weeks. The current retrograde started on August 4th and will end on August 28th. I thank my lucky stars that I’m not ruled by Mercury and don’t have important placements in Gemini or Virgo. However, I already observed certain number of miscommunications in my life with the classic computer issues to boot.
Since Mercury retrograde is quite a common occurrence, how can we navigate it best? It is important to slow down and to pay special attention to how you communicate. Especially what you communicated, and what you should have communicated but did not. When signing contracts and making large purchases, read the contract several times over, cross the “T”s and dot the “I”s, so to speak.
What I find helpful during the time of confusion, mental fog, and lack of focus is diffusing essential oils of rosemary, basil, and mint. There are two types of mint: spearmint and peppermint. Peppermint is more commonly used for the therapeutic purposes although spearmint is a good substitute. Spearmint smells like a toothpaste and a bit sweet, this could be off-putting to some people. Special care has to be exercised with the mint essential oils as little goes a long way. Mint oils can be very irritating, think of it as an ice fire.
Thankfully, these essential oils are not particularly expensive. I prefer “Now” brand is it is one of the cheapest and can be purchased online at amazon.com or at a whole foods store. Here are couple of recipes for a diffuser, to maintain clarity and focus. Recipes below are for 150 ml diffusers, but depending on your sensitivity can be doubled up.
Recipe 1:
Lemon 3 drops
Peppermint 1 drops
Rosemary 1 drop
Recipe 2:
Orange 3 drops
Spearmint 1 drop
Basil 1 drop
I wish you all to stay mentally vigilant during times when Mercury is retrograde and laugh of any confusion that may occur!
